STOCK:  For maximum production of good quality cuttings, maintain minimum night temperatures of 66-68°F/19-20°C throughout the production season. Use of night interruption lighting from 10:00 PM to 2:00 AM is recommended through 15 May to prevent flower initiation. A minimum of 10 foot candles/107 lux is required to be effective. Provide a balanced and complete fertilizer regime to assure optimum plant growth. Light intensities of 4,500 to 5,000 foot candles/48,400 to 53,800 lux are ideal provided daytime greenhouse temperatures do not exceed 90 °F/32°C.

Jingle Bells mother plants:

• produce fewer cuttings than Freedom™ mother plants
• have an optimum cutting maturity characteristic of 6 to 7 weeks
• are adaptable to multiple pinch (2-3) or single pinch, fast crop programs

PROPAGATION: Cuttings are challenging to root and prefer warmer temperatures in propagation. Use of a rooting hormone containing 1500 ppm IBA will promote the speed and uniformity of root development. Chemical growth regulator applications may be required during propagation to prevent stretching.

FINISHED PLANT CHARACTERISTICS: The Jingle Bells cultivars are adaptable for production in most climates and forms, including trees. The flower initiation date is 25 September, similar to other poinsettia cultivars. Jingle Bells are later blooming cultivars and should be kept warm (66-68°F/19-20°C night temperatures) throughout the production cycle. Color and bract expansion are later on this cultivar than other poinsettias. Do not cool the greenhouse or shade until full bract maturity is reached. Multiple chemical growth regulator applications are required, similar to V-14 Glory. Both Jingle Bells are responsive to A-Rest®, Bonzi®, Cycocel® and Sumagic®, or combinations of B-Nine® and Cycocel ®. The Jingle Bells cultivars are resistant to epinasty.

CULTIVAR NOTES:

• Jingle Bells 3 is the most stable of all Jingle Bell types. It is ideal to use for multiple plant forms to assure pure color. Look for dark pigmentation in young leaves and distinct stripe on petioles to select uniform product when planting. The ability to visually select in the vegetative stage is unique to this Jingle Bell cultivar.
• Jingle Bells has a lighter shade of red in the bracts. The growth habit is more vigorous than Jingle Bells 3, and it is very suitable as a complement to the V-14 Family.
