Can be grown with most medium green leaf cultivars.

STOCK: For maximum production of good quality cuttings, maintain minimum night temperatures of 66-68°F/19-20°C throughout the production season. Use of night interruption lighting from 10:00 PM to 2:00 AM is recommended through 15 May to prevent flower initiation. A minimum of 10 foot candles/107 lux is required to be effective. Provide a balanced and complete fertilizer regime to assure optimum plant growth. Light intensities of 4,500 to 5,000 foot candles/48,400 to 53,800 lux are ideal provided daytime greenhouse temperatures do not exceed 90°F/32°C.

V-17 mother plants:

produce ample cuttings, although not as many as Freedom™ mother plants
have an optimum cutting maturity characteristic of 6 weeks
are adaptable to multiple pinch (2-3) or single pinch, fast crop programs
benefit from managed Botrytis prevention programs

PROPAGATION: Cuttings root easily, but slower than Freedom under normal propagation conditions. Use of a rooting hormone containing 2500 ppm IBA will promote the speed and uniformity of root development. Multiple chemical growth regulator applications are recommended during propagation to prevent stretching of this vigorous cultivar.

FINISHED PLANT CHARACTERISTICS: Angelika is an easy series of poinsettias to grow and is well suited for producing all sizes and forms. The flower initiation date is 25 September, similar to other poinsettia cultivars. Due to its vigor, multiple chemical growth regulator applications are required. Angelika is responsive to A-Rest®, Bonzi®, Cycocel®, Sumagic® or combinations of B-Nine® and Cycocel®. This cultivar is resistant to epinasty.

CULTIVAR NOTES:

V-17 Angelika is susceptible to Botrytis and will benefit from preventative programs targeted at this disease.
Maintain even soil moisture levels and avoid high soluble salts throughout production that might contribute to bract damage (the white and red are the most susceptible to this problem).
V-17 Angelika red is subject to fading under warm finishing conditions and bright light.
Calcium sprays have aided in the prevention of bract edge burn and stem breakage.
