More Turns With Fast Crops!

Quick turnover of an additional crop after peak sales weeks has always been a challenge for growers. Customers are still looking for plants but growers are already limited by capacity during this high demand sales period. If your customers won’t wait for crops grown with traditional crop schedules; we have the solution! Choose fast to finish varieties and increase your annual revenue per square foot by fast cropping!

Fast Cropping is easy with so many choices in popular species from the Ecke Ranch:

  • Bacopa
  • Brachyscome
  • Coleus
  • Diascia
  • Double Impatiens
  • Nemesia
  • Petunia
  • Verbena

Choose from our recommended list and plant –

  • 2 cuttings / 4” pots
  • 2-3 cuttings / 5” and 6” pots
  • 4-5 cuttings / 10” hanging baskets.

Yes, the additional investment is higher, but the fast turnover results in less time on the bench and fast revenue in your pocket! You’ll also help meet your customer’s demands with quality products!

Keys to success:

  • For best results start with cuttings already pinched in propagation.
  • Additional pinches may be required for fast growing species like coleus.
  • Plant cuttings as far apart as possible in containers to help fill out the size quickly.
  • The canopy of finished material will be dense, reducing airflow and encouraging development of botrytis that can cause problems! Make preventive fungicide applications to the crops, provide adequate spacing, ventilation, and horizontal airflow to help manage diseases.
  • Optimum temperatures for each crop are recommended; cooler temperatures will slow development.
  • Fertility needs and water requirements may be higher as pots are supporting multiple plants.
  • Multiple cuttings per container and warmer temperatures increase need for growth regulators; avoid higher rates or late applications that can delay flowering.
  • Choose early to flower petunias and Calibrachoas.
  • Follow traditional cultural guidelines for each variety.
